Peace Rose

As beautiful as red roses are it is very difficult for me to find sufficient contrast to make a good painting. White roses pose the problem of the color of shadows — always a problem in the history of painting. The best of subjects, therefore, would be the pink rose family and among these the most appealing is the peace rose with its beautiful blend of yellows and pinks.
