Magnolia Plantation, S.C.
Some years ago we were spending some time in the wonderful world of Charleston, S.C. and took some time to tour the Magnolia Plantation. It is a wonderland of flowers, water and sky and trails through azaleas. It was enough just to see the place, but ,of course, I wanted to paint the plantation right then and there. It took several years to gather enough courage to make a painting. I have finally given it a try and very much enjoyed doing it. “ artists and poets have labored in vain to convey their impression of dazzling masses of exotic blooms in the somber setting of Magnolia.”- National Geographic Magazine, 1926
